BGA Takes Part in UNDP Strategic Dialogue on Blockchain for Sustainable Development in Western Balkans

The Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) is proud to announce our participation in the recent strategic dialogue organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Brussels on January 21, 2025. This high-level gathering focused on "Empowering the future: A strategic dialogue on emerging technologies and impact entrepreneurship in the Western Balkans."

Representing BGA on the Global Stage

Our lead, Glenn Tan, represented BGA among a group of 30 participants that included representatives from the UNDP, European Commission, science and technology institutions, and major blockchain foundations including Ethereum Foundation, Solana Labs, Algorand Foundation, Cardano Foundation, Celo, and Metis.
The dialogue brought together diverse stakeholders committed to addressing critical development challenges in the Western Balkans through emerging technologies, with a particular focus on blockchain, AI, and metaverse applications.

Key Focus Areas

The strategic dialogue explored several crucial areas aligned with BGA's mission:

• Building sustainable emerging technology ecosystems through collaborative platforms
• Fostering partnerships among institutions, tech companies, and foundations
• Addressing gaps in human capital and digital skills to enhance regional competitiveness
• Empowering local talent through innovative approaches to skilling and impact-driven entrepreneurship
• Connecting entrepreneurs to investors and fostering business models based on emerging technologies

UNDP Blockchain Advisory Board Launch

A significant outcome of the dialogue was the launch of the UNDP Blockchain Advisory Board, designed to strengthen collaboration between UN agencies and blockchain organizations. This initiative aims to provide guidance on addressing development challenges with innovative blockchain solutions, promote open-source and sustainable approaches, and act as a bridge for scaling impactful solutions across regions.
